Do you live in the Dallas area? Yes? Then you have to meet one of our favorite Yoga instructors, Meagan Richenberger, who is offering NEW classes at the Grapevine Botanical Gardens!
Sound dreamy? It is! We were lucky enough to be apart of her first class. It was surreal and so peaceful.
Meet Meagan Richenberger!
1911: Meagan, tell us a little bit about yourself first.
Meagan: Well, I am 27 years old and I've been practicing yoga for about 4 years, on and off. I have two cool kids, 7 and 2, a husband, a dog, a cat and 2 sea monkeys.
1911: How did you get into yoga? and what type of yoga do you practice?
Meagan: When I got married and started packing on the pounds, I knew I needed to workout but I was always super intimidated by gym-people. I wandered into a local studio in Grapevine for a hot class and immediately, I was hooked! I love a good sweaty heated vinyasa, but I know that yoga is all about creating balance in the body and that an easy going yin class is just as important as a cardio-intense flow.
1911: Why did you become a teacher?
Meagan: Aside from the fact that I get to wear yoga pants 24/7?
When I started noticing a change in my body, it was awesome...when I noticed that I had more patience, not only for others but for myself and my own journey, I knew I wanted to share it with the world...and I know that sounds cheesy, but it's true.
1911: Where do you teach? How often?
Meagan: I teach a class outdoors at the Grapevine Botanical Garden, starting September 2013. Class days and times are Tuesdays at 10:30am and Sundays at 4:30pm. It's a Vinyasa-style class accompanied by music and you can sign up by visiting playgrapevine.com or calling the Grapevine Community Activities Center at 817-410-3450
1911: What is your favorite Yoga pose? Why?
Meagan: I have to say my favorite pose at the moment is Scorpion pose. I love arm balances! There is something so empowering about supporting all of your body weight with just your arms. Not to mention the yummy backbend happening there!
1911: Tell us something unique about yourself.
Meagan: I guess something that makes me unique, in the yoga community at least, is that I have a pretty bad case of scoliosis. It is most definitely a humbling thing when your body wont do what you feel it should, but it has only made me more compassionate for myself and others, so in the end it's not a big deal.
1911: What is your favorite song to practice to or use in a class?
Meagan: Gonna go with Wild Horses by the Rolling Stones. But really anything classic rock is typically what I like to practice to.
1911: Do you have a top memorable teaching experience?
Meagan: The first class I taught at the Grapevine Botanical Gardens was full of people who love me and were there to support me and experience this part of my life. I don't know if 'll ever be able to top that day!
1911: How can our friends connect with you?
Meagan: Meagan Jason Richenberger on FB and my email is email@example.com
I love Tulsa. In fact, my husband is from Tulsa and his family still resides there. It is beautiful and the houses are gorgeous!
We are so happy to announce that we are sponsoring the I AM Yoga Festival in September.
A little about the festival:
“I AM not my thoughts, emotions, sense perceptions, and experiences. I AM not the content of my life. I AM life. I AM the space in which all things happen. I AM consciousness. I AM the now. I AM." -Eckhart Tolle
Founded in 2011, I AM is a Tulsa based organization dedicated to uniting the yoga, art and music community through conscious events with the goal of raising awareness of the light within each human being.
Our creative team pushes the boundaries creating memorable and transformational events and opportunities for expansion and growth both personally and as a community. We believe that uniting together in our community creates more sustainable change than working apart. We believe that all humans are the essence of love and we intentionally create experiences where that can be shared with as many as possible. We know that we are all deeply connected and celebrating that connection reminds of the love that exists between all human beings. We believe there is a new kind of revolution happening on the planet and we call it a LOVE REVOLUTION.
Looking for some fun and vibrant energy this Summer? Check out our new line of straps. We released 7 new patterns this week and will be releasing 7 more in the coming weeks!
Here is a sneak peek:
EEEKKK!!! We had a BLAST at the Texas Yoga Conference this year. Our slings sold out in the FIRST DAY! Laura was actually up in our hotel room sewing as fast as she could so that we could have even more available. Talk about a successful trip!
We also debuted our new Purple Haze sling, which was the best seller of the show. This fabric was actually handmade in Nigeria and our grandmother had it in her closet for a few years from a mission trip!
Check out some of the wonderful new friends we met in Houston:
We had a blast at the Austin Yoga Festival last October! Our slings were very well-received and we met a ton of new friends. We love Austin!!!

Liz was freezing! Who knew it could be so cold in Texas????
